Fiore is our family home on the shores of Lake Huron on remote Marquette Island in Michigan. Over the years, we've hosted many family and friends for overnight stays, cookouts, wilderness adventures, extreme croquette, boating, jet skiing, lounging by the shore, and the occasional raucous late night party.
Les Cheneaux Islands are a chain of 36 small islands off of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The historic location provides the perfect setting for boating, sailing, and discovering new island adventures. Fiore sits in a protected bay on Marquette Island, the largest of the Les Cheneaux Islands.
The remote property of Fiore is situated on 10 acres of forest on a private beach front and is only accessible by boat. You arrive at the dock and take the winding, hand-built, wooden path past the fire pit and the sandy beach up to the Big House where you are greeted with a large sweeping open porch. Off the path, you will find two smaller structures, the Sail Shack and the Love Shack. Beyond these homes, you are met with acres of dense forest with a winding trail that is perfect for hiking or bike rides. Look out for deer dancing in wells of sunlight or an unexpected modern art project tucked away in the woods.
The Trefry family has lived in Upper Peninsula of Michigan for generations. Grandpa Jack was the Cedarville town pharmacist in the early to mid 1900s, and he and his wife raised their children there.
Even though the children eventually moved away to start their lives in other parts of the country, they have always kept their ties to the Upper Peninsula and the Les Cheneaux Islands. Every summer the Trefry families gather together at their lake homes and celebrate the sprint of the place, each other, the Les Cheneaux community, and even large life events like the Great Wedding of 2015.
Growing up with summers in Les Cheneaux, John Trefry has developed many projects here like Souls of Totality with his sister, Kate, and her husband, Ben. Kate has found inspiration for her writing on Stranger Things while at Fiore. John is in production for a feature documentary called DRAIN which is about the water levels on the Great Lakes. Most recently, he has developed the Retreat at Fiore.
The Trefrys are happy to extend the splendor of Fiore and the Les Cheneaux Islands to you.
